An Introduction to Strategy and Authority in Human Design

Understanding your strategy
In Human Design, strategy refers to the specific method or action that a person should take in order to align with their unique design and make decisions in line with their true nature. It is based on the person's genetic makeup as represented by their Human Design chart, which is a map of the position of the planets at the time of their birth. The strategy helps a person to understand their innate strengths and weaknesses and to act in a way that is in harmony with their nature. Some common strategies in Human Design include waiting for the right moment to act, going with the flow, and taking a spontaneous and intuitive approach to decision-making.
There are several different types of strategies in Human Design, each of which corresponds to a specific type of Human Design chart. Here are some examples:
Generator with wait to respond strategy: This strategy is for people with a defined Sacral center. These individuals need to wait for a clear "yes" or "no" feeling in the body before taking action.
Manifesting Generator which is respond, envision, reprocess, inform, then act strategy. This strategy is for people with a defined sacral center and a defined Will center. These individuals need to wait for a specific invitation before taking action and also be aware of their impact on others.
Reflector which is wait for 28 days strategy. This strategy is for people with an undefined Sun, Moon, or Earth center. These individuals need to wait for external reflection because they influenced by the energetic gates created by the cycles of the moon before making decisions and acting, so they need to observe, wait and trust the reflection of others before acting.
Projector which is wait to be invited strategy. This strategy is for people with an undefined Will center. They are natural leaders and guides but need to wait for a specific invitation and recognition before taking action.
Manifestor which is inform before acting strategy. This strategy is for people with a defined Will center. They should trust their gut feeling and take action when they feel the energy to do so.
Human Design reading is complex, and it is not just about one specific type of center or strategy, but the interplay of all the centers, channels and gates in your unique human design chart.
Understanding your authority
In Human Design, the concept of "authority" refers to the specific way in which an individual should make decisions and take action in order to align with their unique design and inner guidance. Each person has a unique authority, which is determined by their Human Design chart and is based on the position of the planets at the time of their birth. There are four types of authority in Human Design.
Inner Authority. This is the most reliable and consistent type of authority, because it is based on an individual's inner guidance and intuition. Inner Authority is represented by the person's defined centers in their Human Design chart, particularly the Head, Heart, and/or Sacral centers. Individuals with Inner Authority are able to make decisions and take action based on their inner knowing, without the need for external validation or approval. They know what they want and they know what they feel, and they take their own decision.
Splenic Authority. This type of authority is based on an individual's ability to sense the energy and rhythms of the environment and the people around them. Individuals with Splenic Authority are able to make decisions and take action based on their ability to sense the vibe, the rhythm, the flow of the environment. They have an open and undefined Spleen center in their chart, which makes them highly aware of the energy around them. However, since it's undefined, they might not know how to act on the information they get.
Ego Authority. This type of authority is based on an individual's mental processes and decision-making. Individuals with Ego Authority make decisions based on their mental understanding and logical reasoning, rather than on their feelings or intuition. They have an open and undefined Will center in their chart, which makes them highly aware of what they think, but they might not know what they truly want.
Self-Projected Authority. This type of authority is based on an individual's ability to project their energy and influence the environment and the people around them. Individuals with Self-Projected Authority make decisions based on the impact they want to make on the world, rather than on their own inner guidance or the energy of the environment. They have an open and undefined Solar Plexus center in their chart which makes them aware of the impact they have on others and they might take action based on this awareness.
All the above authorities can be present in the same chart, and it's not only about one specific center but the interaction between them. For example, an individual with a defined Will center might also have an open and undefined Spleen center, and therefore use both Inner and Splenic Authority.
Can someone's strategy and authority change?
The strategy and authority that an individual has are based on their genetic makeup as represented by their Human Design chart. These are determined by the position of the planets at the time of their birth, and they are considered to be a fixed and immutable aspect of a person's nature.
While the strategy and authority are fixed, the way you use it can be learned and changed. For example, a person with an Inner Authority may have learned to rely too much on external validation and may need to re-learn to trust their own inner guidance. Or a person with a Generator strategy who are use to take action immediately, may learn to wait for the right moment and a specific invitation before taking action.
The process of understanding one's Human Design and applying it to their life is a continuous journey of self-discovery and self-awareness. By understanding and embracing their unique strategy and authority, individuals can learn to make decisions and take action in alignment with their true nature, and as a result, experience a deeper sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in their lives. Through self-discovery and self-awareness, it's also possible to find ways to work with the nature you have, to make the most of it and it will help you overcome any obstacle that you might find in your way.
