          Alia Gheshlyan's Biography

Saudi-American international kidnapping victim, the eldest of the two daughters of Patricia Roush, an American activist who has pioneered the issue of international child abduction and has been at the forefront of this issue as it relates to Saudi Arabia.
Alia and her sister Aisha (born 2 July 1982, Berkeley) at ages three and seven, were kidnapped by their non-custodial Saudi father and were never returned to the United States. Now grown, they remain in Saudi Arabia due to its ban on women travelling without a male guardian’s permission. Reportedly, they are now both married as a result of arranged marriages and have children of their own.
Roush’s books Alia’s Rainbow A Journey Through An International Kidnapping (1999) and At Any Price: How America Betrayed My Kidnapped Daughters for Saudi Oil (2003) explain her side of the story.
