          Álvaro Wille Trejos's Biography

          Costa Rican entomologist who dedicated his life to studying the insects of Central America, especially bees. In addition, he carried out fieldwork in the Costa Rican jungle, of which the first study of Corcovado stands out, at a time when the rainforest was dangerous due to illegal mining, for which his investigations almost cost him his life.
          He died on 11 June 2006 at age 78. Named in his honour, the Doctor Álvaro Wille Trejos Center for Community Studies and Empowerment of the Neotrópica Foundation is located on the Osa Peninsula near the Corcovado National Park.
