          Betty Little's Biography

          American politician, a member of the Republican Party, first elected in 2002 as a New York State Senator. She serves in the 45th Senate District, which includes all or part of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Warren and Washington Counties. She has also worked as both a teacher and a realtor.
          Little voted “No” on the Gay Marriage Senate Bill in December 2009 and the bill received no Republican support. Little has said she supports civil unions. In 2011, Little voted against the Marriage Equality Act, which the Senate passed 33-29.
          Little also generally opposes new forms of gun control, receiving an A from the NRA in 2004 and a 0% from New Yorkers Against Gun Violence in 2002.
          Little has said she believes universal health care should be passed at the federal level to not create undue burden on the state and so has not pushed the committee chair to bring the bill to a vote.
          Little has six children.
