          Birgit Strøm's Biography

          Norwegian actress and puppeteer. She is particularly known for giving voice to and manipulating the marionette Titten Tei and the teddy Teodor.
          After having studied puppetry theatre in Prague, Czechoslovakia, 1952-1953, Strøm began working in Oslo at Folketeatret (The People’s Theatre), where she acted, dramatised, instructed, translated, and wrote several performances.
          From 1965 she was artistic director at Oslo Nye Teaters puppetry theatre department. In 1970 she started working at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation’s department for children and youth programming, also collaborating with Rolf Kirkvaag.
          In 1971 Strøm married Kaare Francis Lyng (23 August 1925 – 30 July 1979).
          Strøm’s father was actor and puppeteer Julian Strøm, with whom she worked together both at Folketeatret and Oslo Nye.
          Birgit Strøm died on 11 January 2011, aged 79.
