          Casimiro Ferrari's Biography

Italian famed mountain climber; so skilled that he was nicknamed “the spider of Patagonia.” Many of Ferrari’s early climbing expeditions took place in the Alps where he was the first to accomplish many of the ascents that are now part of the standard routes used by other climbers. He and his climbing partners, Conti, Chiappa and Negri, made the first undisputed complete ascent of Cerro Torre on 1/13/1974, and Ferrari was the first to make it to the summit of Alpamayo in Peru.
After a prolonged battle with cancer, Ferrari died on 9/03/2001, at his home in Lecca.
