          Dorothy Cheney's Biography

          American tennis player with several titles and honors to her name including induction into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 2004. She was the first American woman to win the singles title at the 1938 Australian Championships. By age 91 she was still competing in tournaments, having won more than 300 matches in the “senior” category.
          Cheney’s parents were also tennis phenomena. Her mother May Sutton Bundy was also inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame and her father, Tom Bundy, was US Men’s Doubles Champion from 1912 to 1914.
          Cheney died on 23 November 2014 in Escondido, California at the age of 98.
