          Gaston Muraz's Biography

          French military doctor and a physician in command of colonial troops in Africa, who completed a training course at the Pasteur Institute in Brazzaville, Congo. Gaston Muraz ran the Sleep Disease Prophylaxis Service in Fort-Archambault (now Sarh, Chad) in French Equatorial Africa from 1928 to 1931, where his medical teams took care of 50,000 patients. He founded the Ecole Jamot in Bobo-Dioulasso for the training of mobile nurses. He took early retirement in 1942, and died in Paris on 7 February 1955, aged 68.
