          Hans Junkermann's Biography

          German actor on stage and in silent films, known for his lanky frame and trademark moustache. He was the son of theatre actor August Junkermann and his wife, actress Rosa Le Seur.
          He joined a theatre tour through the USA and made his debut in the play Uncle Bräsig by Fritz Reuter on 31 October 1893 at the Central Theater in Berlin.
          In 1911 he made his debut as a silent film actor. He developed into a busy supporting actor in German films. In 1930 he appeared three times in Hollywood in German versions of American productions. Back in Germany, he took over the management of the Steglitz playhouse from 1931 to 1934.
          Hans Junkermann married Austrian actress Julia Serda in 1911 and was Charlotte Serda’s stepfather. His brother Fritz (1883-1942) was also an actor. Hans Junkermann died on 12 June 1943 in Berlin at age 71.
