          Jim Carrey's Biography

Born on January 17, 1962, James Eugene Carrey, also known as Jim Carrey, is a Canadian-American actor and comedian celebrated for his lively and slapstick performances. He spent the 1980s refining his stand-up comedy and playing mostly supporting roles in films before gaining widespread recognition in 1990 by starring in the American television comedy series “In Living Color.” His breakthrough in film came after starring in successful films like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber in 1994, followed by Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and Batman Forever in 1995.

Due to the success of these films, Carrey became the first actor to earn a $20 million salary for his roles, starting with The Cable Guy in 1996. His comedic success continued with films such as Liar Liar, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Bruce Almighty, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Yes Man. However, in the 2010s, he began to take fewer film roles, with notable exceptions being Dumb and Dumber To and the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

Despite being largely typecast as a comedic actor, Carrey has delivered critically acclaimed performances in dramatic roles, including The Truman Show and Man on the Moon, winning Golden Globe Awards for both films. Other notable performances include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and his role as Jeff Piccirillo in the Showtime series Kidding, earning him additional award nominations.
