          Joseph Péters's Biography

          Belgian catholic priest of the diocese of Liège and resistance fighter during the Second World War.
          Appointed professor of religion in Malmedy, Joseph Péters was a key figure in the city’s history. He is known for his anti-Nazi commitment and the help he gave young people to avoid compulsory service in the Wehrmacht.
          Arrested in October 1942, he was detained in the cellars of Villa Laloire in Malmedy. He was executed by guillotine on 1 July 1943 at 7:09 PM at Plötzensee prison in Berlin, Germany at age 49.
