          Jules Guérin's Biography

          Belgian doctor who had great influence on the development of orthopedic science. He studied from 1821 to 1826 at the State University of Louvain. In 1828 he took over the Gazette de la Santé, which later became the Medical Gazette of Paris. In 1835 he founded, with Charles Pravaz, the famous orthopedic establishment called the Orthopedic Institute of Paris at the Château de la Muette in Passy. He died on 25 January 1886 in Hyères, aged 84.
