She subsequently received criticism that the robbery was a ploy to generate media attention. In April 2016, Ian Halperin alleged in his book Kardashian Dynasty that Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, had deliberately leaked the sex tape Kim Kardashian, Superstar, the notoriety of which helped launch her to stardom in 2007.
