King of Spain Felipe V's Biography

King of Spain (Anglicised as Philip V) from 1 November 1700 to 15 January 1724, when he abdicated in favour of his son Louis, and from 6 September 1724, when he assumed the throne again upon his son’s death, to his death on 9 July 1746. Felipe was the first member of the House of Bourbon to rule as king of Spain. The sum of his two reigns, 45 years and 21 days, is the longest in modern Spanish history.
Felipe married his double-second cousin Maria Luisa of Savoy (17 September 1688 – 14 February 1714) on 3 November 1701 and they had 4 sons. He married Elisabeth Farnese (25 October 1692 – 11 July 1766) on 24 December 1714; they had 6 children.
