          Klaus Günther's Biography

          German zoologist and taxonomist who made an important contribution to modern evolutionary theory with his definition of the ecological niche. Günther published mainly on the classification of subgroups of locusts and crickets and on the taxonomic species of weevils. He also penned numismatic works, especially from the 1930s and 1940s. He died on 1 October 1975 in Berlin at age 67.
