French Catholic priest, a member of the Missionaries of Saint François de Sales, and Resistance fighter, declared Righteous Among the Nations. He was the second son of Joseph Marie Favre, a farmer (who was killed on the front in 1917) and his wife Marie Julie Voisin. He was the third child in a family of four. He was ordained a priest on 12 July 1936 in Fribourg, Switzerland. He was also a sports teacher in Petit-Lancy/Geneva and performed with the younger students on the school’s theatre stage.
During the Second World War he helped Jewish people with documents and crossing borders. He travelled a lot to Geneva and was arrested by the Gestapo on 3 February 1944. On 16 July 1944, he was shot with seven other comrades in Vieugy, near Annecy, at age 33.
