          Miguel González López's Biography

          Mexican swimmer, gymnast and mountaineer, he was the third Mexican and the first from Nuevo Leon to swim across the English Channel, starting from France and arriving in England in 1959 with a time of 14 hours and 44 minutes.
          He represented Mexico in different international swimming competitions, such as Mar de Plata (42 km) and Lake Michigan (60 miles).
          As a mountaineer, he conquered the summits of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, highlighting among his achievements having climbed in 1978 at the age of 51, the three largest mountains in Monterrey in a single day in alpine mode and having been part of the group that for the first time climber the Three Monterey Mountains with transportation in 1951 and without transportation in 1978.
          Miguel González López died on 13 October 1995 at age 68 in Houston, Texas.
