          Pierre-Louis Flouquet's Biography

          Belgian cubist/abstract painter and poet, who published 21 collections of poetry. A well-known painting by Flouquet is Crucifixion sur paysage Plastique pure (1929–1930). Its religious theme is presented in an abstract way, evoking a certain sense of existential fear and mystery.
          Established in Brussels from 1910, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts during the First World War. He shared a workshop with René Magritte.
          In 1922, he co-founded the Brussels avant-garde magazine 7 Arts with brothers Victor and Pierre Bourgeois and Karel Maes.
          He died at age 67 on 25 October 1967 in Dilbeek.
