          Rowena Rikkers's Biography

Netherlands homicide victim whose dismembered body was found in the water near the beach of Nulde on 8/27/2001. The head and limbs were missing. Three days later, fishermen found the head in the water more than 100 miles away, identified by DNA to be the same girl. Forensic experts re-created a face which was made public and that received over 600 responses. Rowena was identified as the child of her father, who thought the girl and her younger sister were with her mother and a male companion. The couple had gone to France with two girls, where they were found and arrested. They were a couple from the lower classes with extensive criminal records.
The girl’s hand was found in a lake near Harderwijk on October 13. Police also found the trunk of a boy near the same age in the Thames, near London at the end of September. It appears that the children were tortured and it was suggested that the boy was the victim of voodoo. Rowena had been shut in a small dog-kennel and later dismembered.
