          Thomas F. Reilly's Biography

          American politician. Reilly became 43rd Attorney General of Massachusetts in January 1999 and has led the state’s battle against the tobacco industry and Microsoft and played to the media, while investigating the recent sale of the Red Sox by the Yawkey Trust to “ensure that the charities that were to benefit from the sale got what they deserved.”
          Reilly grew up in Springfield, MA, graduating from American International College in 1964 and Boston College Law School in 1970. Early in his career, he worked for the Civil Rights Division of the Attorney General’s office, and, from 1991 until he became Attorney General, he worked for the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. He was elected Attorney General on November 4, 1998. He and his wife have three daughters and four granddaughters.
          On September 10, 1993, the apartment where he and his wife had lived for 12 years went up in flames, causing heavy damage. His wife, home at the time, was unhurt. The cause of the fire was a heat gun that had been used by workers to remove exterior paint and had been inadvertently left on the porch ,
