          Vicente Saenz Rojas's Biography

          Costa Rican writer, journalist and essayist. He was one of the most widely read internationally of his time and the most recognized Central American intellectual on the subject of the Spanish Civil War, which witnessed firsthand authors. Member of the literary circle of socialist thinkers who belonged Roberto Brenes Mesen, Joaquín García Monge, Omar Dengo, Carmen Lyra and Jose Maria Zeledon Brenes.1 In 1916 he traveled to the United States and Mexico, influenced by the Mexican Revolution, was an opponent of the dictatorship of Federico and Jose Joaquin Tinoco brothers. Under the influence of Jose Enrique Rodo he was in favor of the Central American unionism and critic denouncing US imperialism as a journalist acid. In 1936 he traveled to Spain before the start of the Spanish Civil War. His book heroic Spain is considered one of the most important works on the subject.
          He died in Mexico on 28 March 1963.
