          William Lilly's Biography

          British astrologer and author. He studied astrology with Ashmole and published books of prediction from 1633. The author of “Christian Astrology,” 1647, “A Guide for Astrologers,” 1676 and an autobiography in 1715.
          Lilly acquired a fortune by marriage which allowed him the leisure to study and follow his bent.
          He died of a stroke 6/09/1681, Hersham/Surrey, England.
          On September 15, 2003 at 11:00 AM BST, a plaque in his honor was unveiled, the first such plaque in honor of an astrologer. According to Anthony Demetris, the plaque is situated on the side wall of the now-unused Strand underground station beside Kings College and a short distance from the exact spot that Lilly’s house once stood over 300 hundred years ago. The first green plaque was erected in honor of Churchill in 1991 and Lilly’s is the 53rd. The ceremony was attended by the deputy mayo of Westminster.
