          Wim Wenders's Biography

          German film director of his native Germany and the U.S. He studied 1967-1970 at the Hochschule fur Film and Fernschen (Academy for Film and Television) in Munich and his first feature was released in 1970. Wenders won the Palme d’Or award in 1984 and the Best Director award in 1987, both from the Cannes Film Festival.
          Wenders explored his interest in American culture in such films as “Alice in the Cities,” 1974, “The American Friend,” 1977 and “Paris, TX” in 1984. Returning to Germany, his latest is “Far Away So Close,” 1992, which brings back some of “Wings of Desire,” an explanation of the reunification of Germany.
