How to Import Memory from ChatGPT or Claude
Overview
Memory Import lets you bring durable life context from prior conversations with ChatGPT or Claude into Bella. Imported memory is saved into Bella Memory for future personalisation; it does not add anything to your Bella session history.
This feature is available in the web app under Settings > Memory. Use the Import tab to import and the Memory tab to review what was saved.
How to Import Memory
- Open the HumanDesign.ai web app and go to Settings > Memory.
- Open the Import tab.
- Choose your external provider: ChatGPT or Claude.
- If the memory is about one specific person or chart, choose that chart in Optional chart target. If not, leave it as Global memory only.
- Click Copy Prompt.
- Paste that prompt into ChatGPT or Claude and let it generate the structured response.
- Copy the structured response from ChatGPT or Claude.
- Paste that response into the text area in HumanDesign.ai.
- Click Import Memory.
- Switch back to the Memory tab if you want to review, edit, pin, archive, or delete what was saved.
What Gets Saved
Depending on the response, Memory Import can save:
- Global memory such as goals, preferences, work context, relationship context, recurring situations, and durable life themes
- Milestones that mark important learnings or turning points
- Chart memory for a selected chart when the context clearly belongs to one specific person, relationship, or chart-linked situation
- Chart context for a selected chart, such as notes, relationship context, or perspective
Imported memory appears in the Memory tab, where you can pin, edit, archive, or delete it.
If the structured response includes chart-specific memory or chart context, you must select a chart before importing. Otherwise the import will be rejected.
What Import Is Best For
Memory Import works best when the source conversation captures real-life context Bella should remember over time.
- Good imports: goals, work context, relationship context, recurring situations, preferences, major life events, and durable decisions
- Avoid importing only raw chart descriptors: a list of type, strategy, authority, profile, gates, channels, or similar chart facts without life context will usually be less useful than real-world context
Memory vs Chat History
Imported memory is stored separately from Bella conversation sessions. That means saved memory can continue helping future responses even if your old chat sessions are archived or deleted.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing imports: Make sure you pasted the structured response generated from the provided prompt. Empty or free-form replies will not import.
- You see a chart-related error: The response contains chart-specific memory or context, but no chart was selected. Choose the correct chart and try again.
- You cannot find the imported memory: Switch to Settings > Memory > Memory and refresh the list.
- The response is too large: Imported responses must be under 100,000 characters.
- You pasted the wrong content: Clear the text box, copy the provider response again, and retry the import.
Tips
- Choose a chart target only when the memory clearly belongs to one specific person or relationship context.
- Imported memory is easiest to manage if the summary is concise and focused on durable context rather than full chat transcripts.
- If you only want general personalisation, leave the chart target set to Global memory only.
