HDAI 5.5: one smarter Bella, a calmer Community and a layout built around the conversation

HDAI 5.5 is the biggest change to the app since Bella arrived. Three things are different: how Bella answers, how the community works, and how the app is laid out. This post explains each change, why we made it, and what it means for your plan.

One Bella, smarter than before

Until now you could pick which AI model Bella used: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and others, some included in your plan, some drawing on your usage balance. If you had a favourite, you will notice it is gone from the chat. Here is why, and why we think you will get better answers for it.

We have not replaced Bella with one model and called it a day. We have replaced the picker with an intelligent routing system. Every question you ask is read first, and Bella chooses the best way to answer it: a quick, precise reply for a direct chart question, deeper reasoning for a hard one, her tools (chart lookup, composites, transits, the moon, web search) when the question needs facts, and her memory of what you have told her when it needs context. The whole system is tuned specifically for Human Design, to be as accurate and as insightful as we can make it.

The honest reason for the change is consistency. When Bella ran on several models at once, it was almost impossible to get a consistent result across them from the same prompt. One model would quote your gates correctly and another would guess; one would answer in two lines and another in two pages; a fix for one would break another. We decided it was better to make one Bella really great, and really conversational, than to keep managing many. Before switching we ran hundreds of chart-based accuracy checks covering types, strategies, authorities, profiles, centres, gates, channels, planets and the incarnation cross, plus her tools and her memory. Every chart fact came back right.

Bella also now recommends professionals, videos and more that relate to your design, when they would genuinely help with what you are asking.

What this means for you:

  • No model to pick. Just ask.
  • The same Bella on every plan. Every member gets the same quality, whichever plan they are on. Plans differ only in how many messages you can send.
  • Your usage balance has a clearer job. It now pays for the Website Builder and report generation, not for premium chat models.
  • You still shape her. Chart notes, your Settings (depth, tone, language style) and Bella’s memory all carry through. Ask for a brief answer and you get one; ask for a complete overview of your chart and you get the full picture.

A calmer Community, built around discussion

The newsfeed is gone. It was never the best way to encourage community discussion: a social-media-style stream rewards posting often and reacting fast, and most members came away feeling they had to keep up rather than that they had been heard.

Community is now organised by discussion topics. You ask a question or share something inside a topic, with a specific intent, and the people who care about that topic see it and answer. That gets you better answers, and it makes the whole space easier to navigate. There is no pressure to post and no pressure to engage; you can share without pressure and you can take part without pressure. We are moving the community towards something simpler and more human, and we will keep removing noise rather than adding it.

Community has its own home, one click from Bella in the left rail, and the overview brings together:

  • Discussions, by topic, with pinned topics first.
  • People, to meet members with charts like yours.
  • Professionals, the Human Design practitioners in the directory.
  • Public figures, reference charts built from published birth data.
  • Videos, articles, the leaderboard and stats.

A simpler layout, less clutter

The layout change has one aim: simplify the whole experience. Everything that was not helping you has gone, and what is left is arranged around your conversation with Bella:

  • A slim icon rail on the left: Bella, Library, Workspace and Community, with feedback, support and settings at the bottom.
  • A chart selector at the top of your history pane, so switching between your charts takes one click and you always know which chart Bella is talking about.
  • Your chart beside the conversation, with the bodygraph, transits, moon, returns, centres and gates a tab away.
  • A Library for your charts, composites and reports, with search and folders.
  • On the phone, a one-row header (menu, chart selector, chart reveal) and a smaller composer, so the conversation gets the space.

Search and notifications sit in the rail on desktop and in the header on the phone. Clutter and unnecessary information are gone; if you miss something, tell us with the feedback button.

What has not changed

Your charts, sessions, memories, reports and plan are exactly as they were. Nothing moved out of your account; it only moved around on the screen. If you cannot find something, the search (press Cmd or Ctrl and K) finds pages as well as charts.
