How to Set Context for Your Chart and 3rd-Party Charts

Using BellaUpdated Mar 12, 20262 min read

What Is Chart Reading Context?

Chart Reading Context lets you tell Bella what is going on in real life for you or for someone else whose chart you are reading. This extra background helps Bella give more relevant, practical answers instead of only generic Human Design information.

Chart Context is different from Bella Memory. Chart Context is a short manual note you set for one chart. Bella Memory is a reusable saved-memory layer managed in Settings > Memory.

Where to Add Context

  1. Open the chart you want to read (your own or someone else’s).
  2. Go to the Bella chat area for that chart.
  3. In the action bar near the message input, click the document/notes icon.
  4. The Chart Context modal will open.

Context Fields

Notes

Free-form text where you describe the person’s current situation, goals, challenges, or anything Bella should know. For example:

  • “Sarah is a 35-year-old marketing consultant going through a career change.”
  • “I am dealing with a difficult relationship and want guidance.”

Relationship

Describe how this person relates to you (for example, “my partner,” “my client,” or “my child”). This helps Bella frame answers appropriately.

Perspective

Choose whether Bella should respond in:

  • 1st person – “Your Sacral Authority means you should…” (default for your own chart)
  • 3rd person – “Their Sacral Authority means they should…” (default for library charts)

How Context Improves Answers

Without context, Bella can only give generic interpretations of chart elements. With context, she can:

  • Relate chart insights to specific life situations.
  • Provide actionable advice tailored to the person’s circumstances.
  • Frame responses appropriately for practitioners working with clients.

How Context Differs from Memory

  • Chart Context is something you set manually for one chart.
  • Bella Memory is saved context Bella may reuse later across future chats.
  • Chat History is the message record for each session.

Tips

  • Context is saved per chart and persists between sessions.
  • Keep context concise. A few sentences is usually enough.
  • Update context as the person’s situation changes.
  • For practitioners: set the perspective to 3rd person and add client details.
