Why We Moved from Report Credits to Usage Balance
HumanDesign.ai used to sell and deduct report credits. We have now moved to a shared usage balance because it is a fairer and more sustainable way to run paid AI features across chat, reports, regenerations, and content tools.
Why we changed
The old system made sense when reports were the main paid AI action in the app. It became harder to sustain as AI usage expanded across more tools while membership pricing stayed relatively low. A single shared balance lets us lower many report costs, include a clear monthly allowance for Pro, and charge heavy usage more accurately instead of making every member subsidize it.
What changed for reports?
Reports no longer use a separate report-only wallet. Report generation now draws from the same usage balance used by other paid AI features. Cost is shown in dollars and is influenced by the model you choose and the amount of generation required.
What changed for Pro members?
Pro now includes a US$25.00 monthly Pro allowance for paid AI usage. That included amount is spent first each cycle. If you need more than that, you can add carryover balance manually or enable auto-reload.
What changed for Personal members?
Personal does not include a monthly paid AI allowance. Personal members can still access paid AI features, but they do so through carryover balance from top-ups or auto-reload.
What happened to legacy report credits?
Legacy report credits were converted into the new balance model rather than lost. Their value moved into the carryover side of your usage balance so it stays available until you spend it.
How heavy usage works now
Light and moderate usage stays much easier to understand: Pro gets a monthly allowance and everyone can see the same usage balance across paid tools. Heavy usage is no longer silently free. If you want to keep using paid models or generating more reports after your included balance is gone, you top up or turn on auto-reload.
No surprise billing
The new system is not designed to create hidden postpaid charges. Paid usage continues only if you have balance available or you choose to fund more balance through top-up or auto-reload.
Where to manage the new system
Billing now lives on the Usage page, not on the old credits page.
